Oskar Firek Architects regards material language, sculptural sense and precise grasp of proportion as the core of the project. Whether it is a private residence or a commercial space, the works are based on sensitivity to details and understanding of individuality. This Sensitive Source firm originated from the growth background of its founder, Oskar Firek: having been immersed in the artistic atmosphere of painting, sculpture and ceramics since childhood, his design intuition and sense of space were thus naturally formed. The conversation with him is more like listening to a creator share his passionate pursuit of form, texture and spatial rhythm.

When it comes to SAR Apartments, Oskar Firek regards it as another practice of the studio's philosophy under real-world conditions: constructing Spaces with materials and contrasts, shaping narratives with individual objects, while responding to the strong functional demands of young families. Furthermore, many of the custom-made furniture pieces in the apartment were born in the subtle tension between sculptural quality and restraint. He admitted that this tension was not deliberately pursued but stemmed from the continuous exploration of the "ideal proportion" and the intuitive judgment naturally generated through repeated hand-drawn sketches. In the conversation, he recalled his childhood spent in his parents' sculpture studio - those early artistic experiences are precisely the initial source of his design thinking today.

Designed for a young family, the SAR Apartment is located in a luxury development in Warsaw, in the Powiśle district, in close proximity to the Vistula River and surrounded by historic parks. It has a total area of 150 m² and includes a master suite (bedroom, walk-in closet, and bathroom), a second bedroom, guest bathroom, WC, pantry, and a living area that opens towards the park.

The interiors are defined by a muted palette of natural materials based on carefully considered compositions. Oak wood stained in a brown tone, natural stone, sand-textured wall paint, and other materials with varied surfaces were used, combined with balanced proportions and light. Large windows open the living spaces to the surrounding greenery, creating a strong dialogue between the apartment and its natural context. Sheer curtains provide privacy while allowing soft daylight to filter through.

Many elements were custom-designed by our studio, including the entrance console with a seat, a steel brutalist sideboard in the living room, the coffee table, dining table, desk in the bedroom, and other built-in furniture. All were crafted with attention to detail and proper proportions, ensuring that the individual pieces form coherent connections with one another. In the kitchen and bathrooms, expressive stone with strong veining contrasts with calm wooden surfaces, introducing rhythm and dynamism into the composition.

The private areas and bedrooms are kept in the same style – the continuity of materials and tones ensures a sense of calm and cohesion. Built-in wardrobes, desks, and shelving are integrated into the wall panels, maximizing space and maintaining order. The bathrooms were designed as intimate, sculptural interiors where the textures of stone and wood are emphasized by carefully planned lighting.
